HISTORY LESSON In 1970 the Young Lords occupied a Churchi in East Harlem. Sylvia "Ray" Rivera (that is how v identified vself then) got up at a.Gay Liberation Front Meeting very excited and call on GLF to support them called on.all Puerto Rican Queens to come with join them....and we did ..uninvited and unexpected. Sylvia said "these are my people...I don't care if they are homophobic lets go and join them and raise their consciousness." And off we went uptown ..and Sylvia went into the Church in warrior drag and stayed until they left ...building bridges...
